There were certainly some raised eyebrows when Prime entered the UK molasses market in the Autumn of 1999, a time when compound feed production was showing the first signs of serious consolidation and the forthcoming introduction of the 'Agenda 2000' agreement was paving the way for further reform of the Common Agricultural Policy. However, it was my view that the molasses trade was showing signs of complacency at that time and reacting slowly to the changing environment that we operated and traded in daily.
Our vision was to bring a fresh approach to molasses marketing and distribution in the UK, one that could be built on low cost strategies while still delivering quality products and above all, value for money. Hence, Prime Molasses entered the UK market in the autumn of 1999 and eight years on we still strive to provide our customers with innovative solutions in all aspects of the molasses business, whether that be cost savings through resource sharing agreements, bespoke supply arrangements or our specialist mill survey service.
With absolute commitment and a strong independent streak, Prime continues to deliver value for money for its customers and we are already anticipating the further challenges that lie ahead in the ever changing agribusiness arena.
